Questions about The Bible

-- How can I trust the Bible?

The Bible was written by forty men over a period of about 1,500 years, dating from 1500 BC to about eighty years after Christ. It is simply a miracle that all these books have been compiled. There is an unparalleled consistency and unity between the books and authors.

Another reason the Bible can be trusted is the fulfillment of prophecy. There are around 300 Messianic prophecies that were all fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ. Also, the prophecies of Daniel have predicted the rise and fall of earthly kingdoms far in advance.

The Bible has been proven trustworthy through countless archeological discoveries through the years. Finally, the Bible has transformed millions of lives.

What is the Bible? Can we trust the Scriptures? Are they are reliable source of information and direction for our life? A video series by Pastor Doug Batchelor answers all these questions. Is There Anything Left You Can Trust?

--- Who wrote the Bible?

“For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.” “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

2 Peter 1:16, 19-21 (KJV)

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16, (KJV)

Throughout the Bible, the writers tell us that they were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, that He spoke to them and told them or impressed them what to write.
